Had a very entertaining time last night at the launch of China Mieville's Iron Council, and rambled inanely at Leading Academics about the structure of Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, and how very good it is. Also discovered that there are plans afoot to film King Rat, to the extent of there being a Director (young, enthusiastic etc: cannot recall, and possibly was not told, his name), and Meetings.

Today [after an episode of something Weird, possibly BP-related, on top of lots of rather nice free wine] I feel surprisingly well, though very glad I didn't have to get up and go to Werk.

Have just discovered that the newsletter of The International Association for the
Fantastic in the Arts is available as an LJ feed.

It's a sunny day and there is high white cirrus cloud that looks as though it's been combed. Maybe I'll get up ...

I didn't like King Rat much as a novel, but I kept thinking it would have made a great graphic novel, I can see it making a good film too.

King Rat would make a great film: provided they keep the South London setting and the Drum 'n' Bass.
