New E-books

Does anyone know which (if any) of the online e-book stores is most likely to have books on their date of publication?

I only ask because it's only eight days 'til the US edition of The System of the World, and I rather fancy the idea of getting up next Tuesday, downloading it, and going back to bed for the rest of the day ...

I believe that [livejournal.com profile] drplokta has found somewhere. I will prod him for you.

No idea when or if it'll have it but if you don't already have fictionwise.com on your list to check it's worth adding.

It's on my list (have been a member for ages) but I don't know if they get ultra-fresh things, or whether there's a delay between dead-tree and e-text editions -- any idea?

Couldn't tell you, sorry. I just know they send me nice Asimov's regularly and keep telling me about how they've got all sorts of other stuff I ought to be looking at. I don't pay it a whole lot of attention, tbh.

HarperCollins' own ebook store seems like the best bet -- it's at http://www.perfectbound.com/, and the URL for The System of the World ought to be here. Otherwise, HarperCollins list other stockists here.

It certainly ought to be (first place I checked!) but I wonder if they have switched off pre-ordering, or something ...

The HarperCollins URL is now live, and taking pre-orders for download on the 21st.

Bounce! Guess that's next Tuesday booked off then ... Thanks for this, you have made me very happy!

However, HarperCollins are busily making me very unhappy, what with their ': 10204:I: Wrong SUB_ID_AVS_ADDRESS format'.

Grrr.

Trying to pre-order today, and having the same problem and others besides. So I went to the Canadian PerfectBound store, and they took my credit card, though they charged me 7% sales tax. All ready to download tomorrow morning...

oooooh, thank heavens it's not just me! Their customer service desk has been attentive but utterly ineffectual (did you report this?) and I am damned if I'm doing without.

Wonder what time zone they count 'tomorrow' as being ...

I sent them an email earlier today. No reply yet. But it doesn't matter any more, anyway.

Oh, I don't know ... I want my 7% sales tax refunded!

Currently trying to decide if (considering that tomorrow is Day Off) it would be terribly sad and geekish to get up really early and download. Should be available from 5am, technically.

And I bet my Tungsten batteries are not up to the task. *scrabbles for bolt-on battery pack*

I am so far behind, I've not even read Quicksilver yet.

Ditto.

And (from the original link) this is the first I knew that the second volume had been published.
