No one wants to employ me, and this would be fine if I suddenly won the lottery, as I don't especially wish to be employed. However, I understand that you have to buy a ticket to win.

In other news, went to yoga last night despite strong disinclination to go outside after dark. Made it there and back without incident (though was spooked by passers-by, gaps in traffic, plastic bags). Yoga also helped with massive muscular tension. And it was an interesting class -- half of us had been doing it for several years, the other half were more or less beginners. For the first time in a while I had a sense of how much I've progressed in the last couple of years, in terms of physical flexibility and strength.

Other other news -- pics of [livejournal.com profile] cinzia, London Eye, Andy Serkis here. Pics of Christmas break will be posted soon!

Yay for you going to yoga!

I'm quite disappointed with the photo of me and Cinzia. I can't see the bruises at all! I almost wish for a souvenir photo of them... I said almost!

love your "Looking West from the Eye" photo - it looks like it should be of New Crobuzon...

Somewhere out there is someone who is looking for _you_ to employ, bemoaning the crappy quality of would-be employees.

Both of you are obviously looking in the wrong places for ech other.

[hugs] And good luck with the job-searchage. Considered teaming up with [livejournal.com profile] velvetfox in a frantic work-finding thing ... except that she's on the south coast ... and you don't know her ...

I am jobless, too, and drifting. But it does provide writing space.
A propos of yoga, I managed to touch my head to my knees in seated forward bend just before Xmas for the first time ever. It seems to be hard to measure progress in yoga -- maybe it's a very gradual thing? Not sure.

You're right! It does actually remind me, now you mention it, of the cover of a novel (though not Perdido Street Station: but yes, it's the city seen from an airship ....

Am really rather pleased with that one.

Oh, I very much appreciate the writing space -- trouble is, I've been appreciating it for rather too long, and now I'm running out of money ...

How much I can 'do', yoga-wise, varies day-to-day. I tend to measure how flexible I'm feeling by how far I can bend over backwards.

Which you would think would help employment-wise, since this is what most employers expect one to do.

On an almost-but-not-completely-unrelated point, I notice that somewhere between yesterday and this morning, the BSFA (http://www.bsfa.co.uk/) is finally up and running in its new home.
