Yes, it is very different from Fly By Night, which I absolutely loved.

When I allowed myself to open this one, and discovered the totally different setting, I was at first rather disappointed, because I wanted more of that world I'd seen before, or something along the same line. But instead, I think she's written a very good book in a subgenre that I would normally ignore.
As for moving away from YA, that might be something that would bring more critical acclaim, but I'm perfectly happy reading good YA.
