Road Priority

You are driving up a hill. Due to parked cars on the right, there is only room for one car at a time.

A car comes down the hill towards you and instead of pulling in, drives close enough that your only option is to reverse. (Which you do, into a bit of street furniture that is painted black, at night, on an unlit street.)

Who had right of way? And is the driver of the other car a complete idiot?

1) you give way to people coming uphill if you're going downhill.
2) You give way to the other traffic if the obstruction is on your side of the road.

Therefore he's a DOUBLE wanker.

Who had right of way?

Well, if you were on the left of the centre line and the other driver wasn't, you did.

In truly ambiguous situations, e.g. where there are parked cars on both sides of the road, treat the road as a single-track carriageway and apply Highway Code rule 155, i.e. traffic coming uphill has right of way.

It depends on what side of the road the drivers are on, I think. But it sounds horrid and boo to the dent.

I was on the left: parked cars to my right, obscuring idiot's other driver's right of way.

Grrrrrr. 200 miles of motorway sans trouble, and this in the last 50 yards.

Dent not major. Dent to equilibrium rather more damaging.

You.
Yes.

Something similar happened to us when we were getting ready to leave Surrey. Drivers here are noticeably less aggressive. It's the cyclists you need to watch out for.

*Strokes dents soothingly.*
