... not that I minded coming home again either.
Weekend in Plymouth ...

Good Things:

  • all the writing and thinking and music I did on the train
  • seeing younger nephew remarkably cheerful despite being mid-breakup with psychotic wife
  • walking among mossed-over medieval field walls in the fields above Burrator Reservoir, in spring sunshine, with my sister: birds singing, warm spring sun, bright colours, an ancient and much-used place, sense of sisterly affection and shared fun.
  • seeing my father this morning, considerably better than yesterday and quite coherent.
  • In Bizarre Shopping Experience, saw the Standard Lamp of my Dreams in a shop in Plymouth for under £100. Only equivalent ever spotted in London was £1500. Something very wrong with universe.

Bad Things:

  • my father, sick and hallucinating, yelling (well, croaking) at me not to step on the (invisible) kitten. Apparently seeing small mammals is a common symptom of Parkinson's disease.
  • my sister never stops talking. Ever.
  • my sister being Difficult. (Shall leave it at that. She is ill herself, which probably explains a lot).
  • my lurking viral thingy is starting to hit properly. Hardly surprising.

Does look as if the weekend could have been a lot worse for you. You seem fairly up about the thing - even thje bad things you seem to be taking philosophically - and that's good. mental hugs, as always.
