Positive Things for Sunday

1. Walking in the woods in the rain. Actually rather damp, but good to be out of doors. My eye was caught again and again by bright flashes of colour that turned out to be, not flowers, but litter. Where I grew up there wasn't litter, except for the occasional shotgun cartridge. If I'd been out walking in the (demolished) woods at home, that flash of yellow would have been a primrose.

2. Drafting my final chapter (co-author has one more to write). Blood from a stone, this one: but it's ready for editing now.

3. Have finally put the Christmas decorations away in the loft: hard work, because the boxes are big and unwieldy, and I'm still prone to dizziness, but done. Yay!

I like this positive things routine a lot - I would do it myself but for that I would look like such a copycat! (Maybe I will start doing it in private posts. But I know I'm far more incentivised (gah, Amuhrican) by writing for an audience.)

It seems to work a lot better as a positive-thinking tool when I do it out in the open. And it's nice to buck the usual LJ trend (of which I'm as guilty as anyone) of posting about all the bad stuff!

Walking in the rain, yes to that. I went to Richmond Park and walked for a couple of hours. One of the good things about it raining was that there were comparatively few people about - no screaming kids for ex. No litter either that I noticed. And it was at the park gate, I remember now, that there was a sign saying 'No guns to be brought in'. Though the deer are being culled at the moment so if there is gunfire over the rooftops it isn't the Cambridge Road Estate going off, it's just Bambi's mum being turned into venison.
