In with the New

How nice to wake up and actually feel happy and settled! I really should do it more often. Not sure why today: the morning's gone well, in lots of unimportant but nicely-flowing ways, but I was already feeling cheerful by the time I went down to feed the cats. Can it last? Fingers crossed.
I suppose this is normal for some people ...
Am currently* gazing around the office, assigning fictional character-roles -- or rather types -- to my colleagues. Does anyone else do this? Do you look at someone and think, "Aha, he's a Daniel Waterhouse!" or "She's a Claire (from Lost)" or "Hmm: Badger."
Aims for 2006
I'm sparing you the detailed "I will" and "I won't" lists: have made a private post for my own reference. There's quite a few -- categorised as 'Health', 'Reading', 'Writing', 'Work' etc -- but they're fairly mundane prescriptions, and I'm sure you don't care how much fruit I intend to eat, or how I'm managing my reading / writing targets. These are more general resolutions.
In 2006 I will ...
... do something new every month. (January's taken care of: February's a toss-up between speed-dating and joining a gym.)
... write an average of 500 edited words per day -- not including Morning Pages. (In 2005 my average was more like 1000: but a lot of that was never really edited, and anyway I didn't have a full-time job. Currently ahead of target, though!)
... find something good in each day: if there isn't anything, create a good thing. (Could be as simple as having a long bath, or playing with the cats, or writing.)
... move on. (There's a lot of baggage that I'd like to leave behind.)
In general, and definitely in this order:
... +good (do more things that are good for me, and ideally for others as well)
... -bad (stop doing things that are harmful to self or others)
Oh, and ...
... go to New Zealand. And Turkey. And possibly Chicago.
* Actually, I'm currently waiting for someone to sort out an update issue, and someone else to be ready for a meeting. Am determined to Werk.
