06JUN19: Knight of the Burning Pestle, Barbican
Cheek by Jowl team up with Moscow Pushkin Theatre for a Russian-language version, with surtitles. George and Nell are tourists who couldn't get tickets for The Lion King. "Everyone talks about some Brexit here. Have you seen that movie?" Some very funny lines, though it had more energy than coherence.

14JUN19: Rocketman, Greenwich PictureHouse
Taron Egerton does a good job with a rather heavy-handedly sentimental script, framing the biopic narrative as an extended therapy session. Jamie Bell was fab as Bernie Taupin, though, and Bryce Dallas Howard was a horrible mother. I absolutely loathed the saccharine 'forgiveness' scene, though.
Did not enjoy this nearly as much as Bohemian Rhapsody, and I don't think it was just because I'm more of a Queen fan than a fan of Elton John.

19JUN19: Vulvarine, Kings Head Theatre
One of my favourite things from Edinburgh last year, seen with a different demographic (I found myself worrying about whether the gender-swapping would be offensive: yes, I was indeed overthinking it). Still immense fun and thoroughly enjoyable.

22JUN19: Sir Michael Palin, Cadogan Hall
I was probably in the minority, but enjoyed the first half (polar exploration) more than the second half (Palin, Python and the Lumberjack Song).

30JUN19: Endgame (extended), Greenwich Odeon
I'm not sure the additional material (a deleted scene which added nothing to the story; a tribute to Stan Lee; a 'thank you' from a Russo Brother) would have merited another viewing if I hadn't already been planning to see the film again. But it was a nice break from real life and refreshed my MCU memory in preparation for Spiderman: Far From Home.
