groliffe and C WINOLJ introduced me to Frank Turner just before Christmas, and I liked it, so when they mentioned this gig I said "yes please!"
Last stand-up gig I went to: probably The Arcade Fire in May 2006.
Feet hurt.
Impressed with all three acts: would've liked to hear more of the lyrics in both Chris TT and Turner's sets: laughed out loud anyway at Chris TT's ballad of the M1 (to the tune of Dives and Lazarus: C says this is Filk, possibly because there are talking trees in it). Turner's set closer to Pogues than Fairport, if you consider it as folk. Otherwise, vaguely Clash / NMA in places. Passionate and funny and he loves his audience and they love him. (Apart from the couple in front of me who were snogging. It was Date Night.)
Don't think I've ever been to a gig before where people were clearly watching on their zoomed phone screen because better resolution than naked eye.
Emily Barker (sometimes reminiscent of early Joni Mitchell, other times more it-can't-be-country-'cause-I-like-it)
Chris T-T (solo singer / songwriter, bloke with guitar, entered into passionate argument w. audience member re Israeli invasion of Gaza. Made me remember the 1980s in a good way).
Frank Turner (sang Happy Birthday to his keyboard player and to audience member. I have no handy tag, except the nasty beard)
