ten recent observations
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 09:54 am1. Revisited the Tim Walker exhibition on Friday with
ladymoonray, who seemed to enjoy it as much as I did. Colours much brighter than I remembered.
2. Saw Hellboy 2 on Saturday. It makes The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor look sober, clever and plotty. Pretty special effects.
3. Tutankhamun exhibition on Monday would have been greatly improved by an interactive 'Mummify that Screaming Child!' item. Not wanting to be a snob, but you get a better class of visitor (i.e. ones who don't read every plaque aloud, slowly) at British Museum exhibitions.
4. Hadn't been to the Dome since it was the Millennium Experience. Unimpressed, especially by bathrooms (the only toilets I could find had six stalls, one out of order; a single door wedged open with cardboard, meaning those leaving had to squeeze past those queuing; no paper towels).
5. Thames Path closed between Dome and Cutty Sark pub: new housing developments. North Greenwich is very very bleak.
6. Shiva to vet yesterday. She is very healthy and her body weight has increased by nearly 25% in the last three months -- either post-colonic, or because she gets first (and only) turn at the food. Have also finally paid for Sam's demise. I do appreciate a veterinary practice that doesn't push for payment at unhappy times.
7. Interviewing Gwyneth Jones tonight at the BSFA.
8. Thoroughly sick of this weather. It feels, today, as though summer is no longer an option and we're into autumn.
9. The answer to the question about writing interactive fiction turned out to be GlkOTE.
10. I've done something horrid to my wrist, and Pilates last night didn't help.
