An afternoon on the Downs

I was most pleased to find that the Sunday service up through Pyecombe and over to Pulborough runs all winter. I started on Wollstonebury Hill, and wandered past the Clayton windmills and over to the old Brighton path, then back along Underhill Road. Too cold to stop anywhere, so my legs ache, and my head too -- that peculiar headache that comes from being out in the cold for a long time. But it was a cold clear blue afternoon, bright and windy and clean: just what I needed.
