Telegram from the Universe

I started reading Francis Spufford's Backroom Boys -- the chapter about the UK postwar missile programme -- the other night, but put it aside because my cold was settling in and I couldn't concentrate.

However, the Universe thinks I should persevere, and to that end has arranged for British Archaeology to run a feature on the Cold War rocket silos at Spadeadam in Cumbria -- home of the Blue Streak missile.

Can anyone recommend a quality hairdresser in the West End who I'd be able to get an appointment with this afternoon?
Previous haircut needs fixing, and I would rather not look tatty for interviews etc.

The Herbarium at Kew

I was going through old notebooks the other day, and found an account of my visit to the Herbarium at Kew: I'd meant to type it up, but never quite got around to it. And that, of course, is what unemployment is for!
