is there any way of converting a BBC 'Listen Again' feed to MP3? I've missed most of Late Junction this week due to Werk. (New job great, as Werk goes, but exhausting: early nights all round.)

Assuming you're using a Mac, you need to run to Rogue Amoeba (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/) and grab a copy of Audio Hijack, or Audio Hijack Pro.

Dunno what the equivalent would be for a PC.

can we not assume the Mac thing?
Am pleased to know it's possible though -- and may attempt to recruit Mac-users to convert stuff for me!

...be warned that quality is shocking low -- and not in some audiophile weenie-view-if-what\s-shoickingly-low but worse-than-AM-reception-albeir-in-stereo-shockingly-low...

Its okay for listening to Melvin Bragg reeducate the masses and so on... spoken word is pretty much okay-ish, but for music (as I assume you are asking about late junction) then ... ugh...

Much as I'm tempted to recommend you get a Mac, I'll try to be more useful:

http://radio.about.com/library/wyntk/blwyntk-streaming.htm This is an About.com article that has loads of free and cheap options for recording streaming audio to your pc. Freecorder (http://www.freecorder.com/) is free, claims to be spyware free -- it's a come-on program for their more expensive paid-for stream-rippers.

Weirdly, the top hit for 'record real player' on Google is my blog...

I don't notice poor sound quality on the original RealPlayer feed -- though my hearing is deteriorating, and there's a lot of background noise here. And really, anything audible will be better than missing it altogether!

Your Mac-rec is noted!

Have installed Freecorder -- which produces silent files for some reason, will experiment later. Also the ReplayMusic add-on, which would be lovely if it worked! Have emailed them to indicate that no, I have not reached my 25-song limit ...

Yes, yes, if I had a Mac it would all work first time.

I use Audiograbber
http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/

Freeware, and can be used to record whatever's going through your soundcard at the time. I'm sure there's better ways to do it, but this one works for me.

There's definitely a way to do it - for proof I have an Mp3 of Mitch Benn's tribute to John Peel from when it was broadcast on The Now Show. However, not sure how it was done ...
