...Legitimate Business Expense.

Apparently I can claim all my book-buying against tax if I publish an article based on those books (though not if I publish a novel).

So ... does anyone know of any publication which would be interested in a piece about researching and writing a non-romance historical novel? Or even a straightforward article about Dampier? As I am not a professional historian*, I'd prefer to steer clear of all but the most mainstream history periodicals.

*though some of my best friends, etc

The BBC history mag, or History Today (not the Newman and Baddieal sketch, the glossy pop history publication). Actually, glossy history mags seem to proliferate daily. Surely there must be loads of such things?

Talk to that nice Catie Carey if you want to write about researching for the novel, as she knows about publications interested in the writing of historical fiction.

By which I assume that writing an article is classed as providing a service, but writing a novel is more like self employment.
