SPINACH!
I used to have another acronym for the framework by which I attempted to impose structure and fulfilment on my time ... but SPINACH is better
S is for Social -- seeing people, keeping in touch
P is for Physical -- swimming cycling walking etc
I is for Intellectual -- using my brain (book reviews, databases, programming etc)
N is for New -- doing something new (this is a weekly goal and probably includes 'reading new author', 'hearing new music' etc).
A is for Artistic -- writing card-making collaging jewellery-making
C is for Cultural -- films music books theatre exhibitions
H is for Helpful -- stuff that doesn't benefit me directly, or benefits somebody else more (formerly 'altruistic').
Today the plan is roughly:
S -- [sekrit thing this evening]
P -- cycle to pool, swim
I -- write up a book
N -- [sekrit thing this evening]
A -- I am going to write a thousand words if it kills me
C -- finish reading The End of Mr Y
H -- maybe I'll mow the lawn

Also, you have a very good get-out clause. Just eat some spinach and it'll make up for any gaps!

On the whole, apart from slump-days, I manage social-physical-artistic-cultural daily, and helpful several times per week, depending on the state of the landlady!
