Bad Tech, again

I have a wireless keyboard.
It just stopped working.
The wireless mouse (on same box) is fine.
I have replaced the batteries: still not working.
I am typing this on spare keyboard, plugged into keyboard socket, so it's not that.

They're getting cheap (Superdrug £18 in vile colours) so I don't mind replacing it, but does anyone have an explanation? Apart from sheer cussedness of technology?

Also, a quick question. Answer carefully, as the answer may affect you.

I my case, the apartment is filled with black cat hair as it is. A little more would make no difference.

Three out of four cats consulted looked surprised, as though you could possibly doubt the truth of this statement. The fourth cat opined merely shook herself, shed copious quantities of her unique four-coloured hairs and went off to bother a twig.
