tamaranth: me, in the sun (wineglass)

Monday

Left work early, so that I could spend two hours getting home (fatality at Peckham, unspecified horrors on the eastbound Circle line, post-information society at Victoria). Why was I rushing home? So that [livejournal.com profile] nolley could fix my shower. Except that the shower company's 'next day' delivery doesn't actually mean 'next day', but 'a random day of our choice'.

And now I really need a shower, but haven't the energy to go out again and head for the pool. Also, must stuff myself with food prior to 12-hour fast prior to Needles (and a heart scan) tomorrow; the medical profession want to see if I am alive. If I am, it is overrated.

Have column to write. Suspect it will not be improved by BEER but am in filthy mood (and not just mood, hahaha) so do not care.

Damn, it's hot. Bring me a beach.

The BBC? I take it all back

Recently I was complaining* to someone ([livejournal.com profile] mr_flay? Obviously the BBC is all his fault) about stories on the BBC website being left hanging, like bad serialisations, with ne'er a resolution in sight. What, I wanted to know, had happened to the sturgeon?
a fishy tale )

But while consolidating a month's worth of vaguely SF-related links into a rambling, pointless news column (it is the silly season, after all) I discovered that cut for suspense )

Ooops, I seem to be displacing.

"yes, really

Last Supper

Dinner was: two small bottles of Beer (hence sturgeon-post), some elderly chocolate chip ice-cream, best before April 2004 (which went from rubbery ice to liquid in 25 minutes: it ain't half hot), some low-carb bread with fish-in-a-tube*, some more low-carb bread with Tesco's Value Turkey Ham and garlic mayo. I eat like a dole queue hero.

Why, yes, I am still displacing. How could you tell?

*ingredients, translated from the original Danish: cod roe, sugar, salt, potato flakes, tomato puree, chemicals. Mmm, tasty. It comes from Denmark (or IKEA).
