They moved it to Edinburgh because the second and third novels in the series, which they were also adapting, are set in Edinburgh and, in one case, necessarily so. Mind you, they then changed it so that all of them could have been set in Cambridge, but Edinburgh is cheaper.

I like Case Histories but think it is a literary novel rather than a detective novel.
