Accessing the BBC News homepage from here gives me the international version, of course: it also, inexplicably, shows Google Ads.

The ads on the front page of the site are all about panic.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that they'd run adverts for outside of the country.

Hmm, BBC International is, or was, the name of their commercial arm, right? So maybe showing ads to non-licence-payers is like selling DVDs to anyone.

Yup exactly. Just as the channel BBC Worldwide or whatever they call it that does English news wherever uou go, shows ads too.
