When the hairdye box says "Red Black", do you expect your hair to turn out:
(a) red
(b) black
(c) very dark red

Answer is (b), which gave me quite a shock when I looked in the mirror just now. Ooops. Have not had black hair since I was 21. Must arrange a coverup before someone mistakes me for a goth. (Or, given tan and general haggardness, a gipsy. Cross me palm wi' silver, luv?)

Squirrelmonkey would have hoped for red and black stripes. He likes them on everything, being a Beano fan. He'll approve of black though.

Have you tried flogging lucky heather?

There seems to be a market for 'black with a hint of...' hair dye - blue black, purple black, red black etc, all of which are basically black with a hint of colour that really only shows under strong light. I assume it's 'cos plain black can be a bit flat and one-note (and hence look very fake).

Head and Shoulders is apparently very good for deliberately fading hair colour. (But not the new 'colour kind' variety, obv.) Hot Oil treatments are another reputed dye fader.

Apropos of little, if I get gerbils I could call them Dennis and Gnasher :-)

Want to fade hair dye? Full Marks headlice treatment, the one you leave on for 10 minutes and then have to shampoo out for 2 days before it stops feeling oily. Don't ask how I know: I just do.

That would make squirrel's day. But he might try to kidnap them...

I would have expected very very dark red-black, I have to say. But it tends to vary.

black hair
