En route to Hadrian's Wall and The North. New Green Day album is fab. Not so sure about Flevens, though still love the track I heard in Fopp that enticed me to buy.

Two hundred miles, by road, from home
First antiquity of the day: remains of Roman bridge and causeway at Piercebridge. The rain's stopped, I have lunched, less than a hundred miles to go - though I may take longer scenic route.
Borderlands!
Big glaciated landscape, empty space, high moorlands (and a pleasant lack of testosterone-fuelled lorries trying to overtake things that are moving faster than they are). Not sure there's a phone signal up here though I can see at least one mast. Intricate natural mazes in the heather, gorse buttery yellow, sheep and skylarks.
