Every silver lining ...

Won't have to work on my birthday. [or the rest of October. Or November. Or ...]

No more irritating loud-mouthed colleagues with negative IQs [no more colleagues]

Can sit and write [or could, if contract-termination hadn't sabotaged my muses]

Will not need to care about reinsurance any more [Could not care about it any less anyway.]

Have to devote energies to job-hunt. Have no energies.

Would the universe kindly fuck off and leave me alone?

I have had enough of this 'real life' thing now, thank you very much.

I'm extremely sorry to hear that you've been placed in this position. I will sit here and try to beam waves of sympathy from Austin, but if there is anything more concrete that we can do (any obscure Texan books you're after?) please let me know.

I hope that the end result is that you end up with a job you do actually enjoy.

Oh no

Sh*t, Tan. Sympathies (from one to whom the same thing just happened)!

You didn't say anything over coffee last week, so I presume that this was totally out of the blue... bummer.

If there's anything we can do... even if it's just tea, sympathy and cats...

Oh dear. Don't know what else to say. Enjoy the free time? Glib I know; but you probably DO need the break - even if undesired (and undesirable). When's your birthday??

[identity profile] marypcb.livejournal.com 2002-08-20 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
oh bad luck! I know you didn't love it, but a job is a handy thing to have... at leas the clouds aren't dust - our hall ceiling fell down tonight

does this mean we can run away now? to Somewhere Else, wherever that might be?

[identity profile] gummitch.livejournal.com 2002-08-20 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah! Haven't been in work until this morning (Wednesday), so have only just seen this. You have my sympathy. Hope you strike lucky with the job-hunting.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know you didn't like the job, but even so ... anything I can do, tea, sympathy, cheap expotitions, just say.

What they said

Aw hell

Bad luck and many sympathies. If you're at all interested in design, architecture or IT, I've got some contacts - drop me a CV. It's thin at the moment, but there is stuff around.

Re-insurance? What sort?? (I work for a horrible big insurance company, always looking for staff if a wolf is required to be kept from a door or anything)

I can only echo what everyone else has already said, really. When do you finish?

I'm sure it's no consolation to ponder that you're in alarmingly good company at the moment. If going out would help (my turn to pay anyway), do let me know.

Crap

Sorry for being late in responding. Very sorry that they've decided your dispensible (how wrong they are!). But I hope you do get some sort of rest as a result. As with everyone else, all support I can offer I will. (And on the going out somewhere front, [livejournal.com profile] sneerpout and I were already concocting something along these lines even before we'd heard the news. Will discuss later.)

Oh hell. I'm really sorry to hear about this. The concept of 'Real Life' just being something you've had enough of is all to familiar of late, so whilst it seems a bit presumptuous to say "I know how you feel" (can you ever, truly?), you have my sincere sympathy.
